A town between the bay and the hills

The town sits on the northern side of Nessebar Bay. From the water, streets rise through town towards wooded hills. That closeness of coast and hillside shapes daily life: the beach and marina offer a different walk from the streets above the centre.

The municipal tourism office places Nessebar about 10 km away and Burgas Airport about 38 km away. Actual journeys depend on your address and traffic. The neighbourhood map shows how the parts of town fit together.

All year, or part of the year?

Summer brings the beach, restaurants and events to the foreground; winter is quieter. Six months by the sea and a year-round move are therefore different plans. If you want to move here, rent for your first year: it gives you time to discover which version of coastal life works for you.

The climate guide shows monthly regional figures and places to start a winter routine. Before choosing an annual rental, try a cold-season visit too. For a seasonal arrangement, experience the first and last weeks of your intended stay where possible.

A home for ordinary days

A furnished apartment makes it easier to arrive. For several months, you will also want a comfortable reading spot, a usable kitchen, storage, heating and cooling. Include the building charges alongside rent in your budget.

The rental guide shows apartment examples and how to negotiate a full year, including July and August. Seasonal demand can create room for an attractive annual agreement with an owner who values steady occupancy. Renting preserves flexibility and avoids committing your capital to a purchase. It can remain your long-term choice.

Build a week you look forward to

Yoga, fitness, cultural events or learning Bulgarian give you reasons to see the same people regularly. The activity guide lists providers, contacts and year-round starting points. The events guide links programmes in Sveti Vlas, Nessebar and Burgas.

Black Sea Living is exploring the idea of a community for later life on the coast. There is no Black Sea Living club with weekly meetings yet. A first stay is a chance to try local activities and discover where you would enjoy returning.

Three useful next steps

  1. Choose two neighbourhoods and compare actual rental offers.
  2. Build your monthly plan and establish the health cover available in your circumstances.
  3. Plan a first week with a viewing, an activity and time to enjoy the town. Use the visit plan to get started.

If you would prefer more city services on your doorstep, compare Nessebar, Pomorie and Burgas as places to live too.
