Three ways to live here

A monthly budget makes sense when you can see the quantities: how often you cook, eat out, swim or take the bus. Compare the towns, then adjust the calculator below to fit your routine.

One common planning reference

These six totals apply unchanged to all three towns: €600 reference rent and the same quantities, price references and reserves. They show the effect of your routine and household; they are not local quotes and not a town price ranking.

Monthly household totals, including reserves and 10% contingency
LifestyleOne personTwo people
Mostly home cooking€1,455€2,139
An active social routine€1,826€2,838
More outings and a car€2,599€3,999
How do the routines differ?

Mostly home cooking: Per adult per month: 4 lunches, 8 coffees and 1 culture ticket; no paid activity or spa package and no car allowance. The same home is used in all routines.

An active social routine: Per adult per month: 8 lunches, 2 dinners, 12 coffees and 2 culture tickets. Buses plus a taxi allowance; no car and no spa package assumed.

More outings and a car: Per adult per month: 12 lunches, 6 dinners, 20 coffees and 4 culture tickets. €300 car allowance per household; no larger home or spa package assumed.

Same home in every routine. Activities: €0 for mostly home cooking, otherwise €65 per adult; no spa package included. Two people share rent, internet and the car allowance while personal quantities increase.

Separately: dated local examples

The following 18 totals use specific homes and selected local prices (checked 16 October 2026). Quantities and allowances stay the same, but apartments and restaurant dishes differ. The totals compare those examples; they do not establish which town is cheaper overall.

Sveti Vlas

Same home in all three routines; monthly rent: €599.

Monthly household totals, including reserves and 10% contingency
LifestyleOne personTwo people
Mostly home cooking€1,454€2,138
An active social routine€1,825€2,837
More outings and a car€2,598€3,998
Home and local price sources

Local examples checked 16 October 2026: the same Yug 4.4 home, 91 m² with two bedrooms, is €599/month on an advertised annual term in all three routines. A €599 deposit is an assumption. Siana and Roksea supply the menu examples; culture uses the Nessebar museum reference. The €65 activity amount is an allowance, with no automatic Pulse membership or spa. The separate €1,050 seafront home is not a default. Availability, charges and contract terms need confirmation.

Nessebar

Same home in all three routines; monthly rent: €600.

Mostly home cooking€1,455€2,139
An active social routine€1,807€2,799
More outings and a car€2,541€3,882
Home and local price sources

Local examples checked 16 October 2026: every routine uses the same A&D Home advert, €600/month for 60 m² plus 40 m² yard, an advertised year-round one-year contract and €1,000 deposit. Breeze supplies the espresso and burger/salad/water combination; the Archaeological Museum supplies the ticket. The €9 lunch, €2 journey and €65 activity amounts remain shared references or allowances. These meals and homes differ from the other towns’ examples, so the totals are not a town price ranking. Availability, fees and winter restaurant opening need confirmation.

Pomorie

Same home in all three routines; monthly rent: €500.

Monthly household totals, including reserves and 10% contingency
LifestyleOne personTwo people
Mostly home cooking€1,336€2,011
An active social routine€1,689€2,673
More outings and a car€2,425€3,760
Home and local price sources

Local examples checked 16 October 2026: every routine uses the same Yavlena year-round home, 96 m² with two bedrooms. The €500 headline is treated as monthly asking rent; confirm a fixed twelve-month quote. The €500 deposit is an allowance. RED CLUB supplies coffee and chicken/salad/water; culture uses the Salt Museum. The €9 lunch, €2 journey and €65 activity amounts remain shared references or allowances. The €180 five-visit spa card is a separate optional example, never a default. Different homes and menu items do not establish a town price ranking; charges, availability and winter restaurant opening remain unconfirmed.

Build a budget around your routine

Start with common planning references for all towns or choose dated local examples. Household and lifestyle set your routine.

Monthly planning total€1,826

For twelve months€21,916

Includes the selected reserves and contingency.

The same home, regular lunches and occasional dinners out, a €65 activity allowance per adult and more coastal trips.

Price basis and calculation method

Common planning reference for all three towns: €600 monthly rent for the same assumed home in every routine; identical quantities, meal-price references and allowances. This is not a local quote or a town price ranking. Sources were checked on 16 October 2026. Switch to local examples to see the dated homes and menu combinations; their differences do not establish average town prices.

Quantities stay the same for each lifestyle in every town. The activity allowance is €0 for mostly home cooking and €65 per adult for the other routines; optional spa starts at €0. The same home is used in all three lifestyles.

Changing price basis, town, household or lifestyle reloads the example. All quantities and euro amounts are monthly totals for the selected household. Open the categories to adjust them.

Old town: 96 m², two bedrooms€500
Yavlena advert, posted 7 October 2026, explicitly long-term and year-round. Fourth of seven floors with lift, furnished. Deposit, utilities, agency fees and availability are unconfirmed. The €500 headline is interpreted as monthly rent; confirm a fixed twelve-month quote.

The common budget uses a €600 rent allowance, not a claim of an equivalent home available in every town. In local-example mode the same dated home is used for all three routines within each town. Homes differ in size and layout: compare the advert and full-year terms before treating a cheaper total as better value.

A grocery basket you can recognise

eBag online product prices are a Bulgarian shopping reference, not a verified Sveti Vlas shelf-price survey. eBag does not list Sveti Vlas in its delivery area. Prices are dated, without a selected delivery address. This is monthly consumption: oil, detergent and other packs can last longer, while fresh food is bought throughout the month. Actual checkout spending depends on whole packs. Extras, delivery, wine and dietary substitutions are separate.

All three lifestyles keep the same basic food quantities. Restaurant meals are additional choices, not automatically deducted from the shopping basket. If you eat out often, reduce the food amount yourself; if you prefer imported brands, wine or convenience food, increase the extra-food line.

Optional price example only: no card is included in any default budget. Enter your chosen household spend in the optional spa field and avoid double-counting activities. Confirm counting and booking.

Local menus and homes remain dated examples. The calculator starts with a common reference budget; choose local examples to substitute the listed prices. The €180 five-visit spa card is optional and is not included in any starting budget.

Build the household bill from usage

Electricity is calculated from EVN’s residential day and night rates, including network charges and VAT. The social example uses 250 daytime and 100 night-time kWh for one person; a second person adds 75 and 25 kWh. Those quantities are assumptions, not measured apartment averages.

Water uses the ViK Burgas supply, sewer and household-treatment rates, plus 20% VAT: approximately €2.70 per m³ where all three services apply. The examples use 3–5 m³ per person. Home internet starts from Retecom’s advertised €13 a month; phone spending uses a rounded €10 per person based on an A1 prepaid option.

The A1 reference requires an €8 recharge every 25 days for continuous benefits. That is about €9.73 monthly cash flow over a year, not an €8 calendar-month plan. Some recharge credit remains on the account. Check the exact offer and coverage before choosing it.

Leave room for your own circumstances

Each example sets aside €150 per adult per month for health and insurance. This is a placeholder to replace with your eligibility, insurance quotes, prescriptions, dental care and likely treatment costs. It is not a quoted premium and does not establish entitlement to public healthcare. Read the healthcare guide before making that number your own.

Personal spending, extra leisure, taxis and travel reserves are also editorial allowances. The larger lifestyle includes €300 for running a car you already own: €100 for fuel, €100 for insurance and servicing, and €100 for parking, tax and repairs. Actual costs depend on the car and mileage; purchase, financing and depreciation are outside that amount.

Compare the result with reliable income after tax. Add debt repayments, support or care, pets, substantial dental work and major purchases where relevant. The 10% contingency helps with ordinary variation; it does not replace a separate emergency fund.

Monthly spending is not the same as moving-in cash

A refundable deposit ties up money but is not ordinary spending. The calculator shows it separately in the cash needed at move-in. Its first-year spending total adds moving and one-off fees to twelve monthly budgets; it does not count the refundable deposit as an expense.

The common comparison assumes a deposit of one month’s rent; a stated deposit replaces it in local-example mode. Agent and joining fees start at zero and are optional entries. Replace these amounts with your written offer. Your emergency-fund target is shown separately, not added to every month.

How to use these numbers

Prices were checked on 16 October 2026 against actual property adverts, restaurant menus, retailer products and provider tariffs. They are a dated snapshot. Rental examples on the separate rental page refresh daily; these lifestyle calculations retain their dated reference prices so the comparison remains understandable.

There are three kinds of number: published prices; our chosen quantities; and personal allowances where no single price fits everyone. Detailed sources are available below. Save receipts during a normal week on your first stay, then replace the assumptions before signing a year-long rental.

Your next steps

  • Compare the actual home and summer-inclusive contract before comparing the totals.
  • Choose the price basis, household and routine; then adjust amounts to your own plans.
  • Confirm availability, included services and current prices with the provider.
