Before booking: write a small personal brief

Write down who is coming, the dates, your comfortable walking range and three things that would make the stay worthwhile. Add any essentials: step-free access, a separate bedroom, a desk, a pet agreement or a reliable way to get home without driving. This turns a vague search for a nice apartment into a useful accommodation request.

Ask for the complete price for your exact dates and the cancellation terms. A monthly winter offer is not a quote for a summer fortnight. Request current photographs of the actual apartment and confirmation of heating, hot water, internet and lift access where needed. Keep the written reply with your booking.

Days 1–2: settle in and enjoy the place

After arrival, find somewhere to eat, buy breakfast and save your exact accommodation address. Keep the first day light. On day two, explore your base on foot: a grocery trip, the waterfront and the route home tell you more than a sequence of apartment viewings.

In Sveti Vlas, start around Tsar Simeon Street and Central Beach; in Nessebar, distinguish the new-town streets around Artium from the historic peninsula; in Pomorie, ask the visitor centre for a map before combining the central streets with your preferred shore. Use the area guide and transport contacts to plan the actual journeys.

Days 3–7: put pleasure and routine together

A suggested comparison week · change the order to suit your base and weather
DayPlanMake it practical
3Sveti VlasCompare the centre, a waterfront address and the uphill return. Enquire about a sport or class that interests you.
4NessebarEnjoy the old town, then walk residential streets in the new town and check Artium’s programme.
5PomorieVisit the centre and your preferred shore. Add a salt or lake museum visit if open, then locate a rental’s shop and bus stop.
6Repeat an ordinary day in your favourite areaShop, cook, walk and record spending. View one or two homes using the same checklist.
7Return to the place you most enjoyedRepeat the journey without a pre-booked car if that is how you hope to live.

This is an independent visit plan, not an arranged tour. Use the activity contacts to book a real session and confirm museum opening before travelling. Each town deserves time on foot; if transfers consume the day, extend the visit or split it between two bases.

Weeks 2–4: see whether a rhythm develops

A longer stay gives time to repeat routines without making every day a test. Shop at different times, try a second route home and make one journey you would need for regular life. If appropriate, arrange an information appointment about healthcare, residence or an independent review of a proposed tenancy. Confirm language, price and documents before travelling to it.

Review spending weekly, including little purchases and transport. Record housing charges separately from food and leisure so you can compare another accommodation fairly. Use the cost guide as a structure, then replace its planning figures with your own receipts. Keep free days: enjoying an uneventful Tuesday is valuable information too.

Leave with a useful decision

Before leaving, write three lists: what you would gladly repeat, what needs another test and what would prevent a longer stay. Discuss the lists with anyone moving with you. One person’s restful quiet may be another person’s lack of variety; noticing that now helps you choose a better arrangement.

A good outcome may be a return trip in winter, a longer rental or simply another holiday. If you are ready to move, choose a first year of renting so you can keep learning without a purchase commitment. Ask owners for a negotiated quote covering all twelve months, explicitly including July and August. Compare the complete annual bill and the exit terms using the rental checklist. At the end of that year, renewing the rental can be just as good an outcome as changing your plans.
